To save the cost of energy consuming, the National Archives repository not only has to keep appropriate temperature and humidity, but also in low-power performance. According to literature review in this study, rathe the requirements of which include: relative humidity should not be higher than 60%; temperature and relative humidity should depend on the characteristics of stored archives and media of which endurable range to adjust as low as possible. In order not to affect expected lifetimes of collections, the temperature and humidity should be set appropriately by the change of local climate and seasonal characters for energy saving. From previous studies, we discovered that if repository can use of passive climate control technologies, and low heat transfer through rate, high thermal capacity, low moisture permeability characteristics of the building envelope, a high degree of air tightness and high efficiency air conditioning system, and etc., so that the repository will satisfy the requirements of low energy performance. |
