State-owned enterprises (SOE) acted as leading roles in many industries in Taiwan Economy after World War II. They made great contribution to the economic growth of Taiwan and the development course of them usually could be seen as the development history of the industry. Both the official records produced by the SOEs and the documents created by their labor unions are important sources for understanding them. Being subordinated to different enterprises which were not privatized at the same time, these labor unions have different characteristics. Also, the differences between types and amount of documents produces by them could be observed. The author reviews the background of Taiwan labor movement after World War II. In addition, the author introduces the composition and main types of the labor union documents from his experience of investigation. Finally, the historical and academic value of the documents of the Salt Industry Association, which were obtained unexpectedly are also discussed. |
