Since the Archives Act and its related regulations were promulgated in Taiwan, archivists have confronted the requirements to improve their work performance under the law. The trends of downsized employees in governmental agencies, the changes of information technologies, the training budget reduction, the digital records increase, and the life-long learning in Taiwan, will support archivists' on-the-job training by e-learning approach. The study is to investigate the e-learning needs and the attitudes of archivists in Taiwan. The questionnaire was sent to 79 archivists who attended the fundamental course in archival management, which was held by National Chengchi University. The research results demonstrate that archivists learning needs are mostly on the basic knowledge of records management. The archivists' acknowledgement of benefits from e-learning and the requests of e-learning system functions correlate with their online course selections. |
