Recently, every university in Taiwan has tried to promote international education. The number of international students in Taiwan has been constantly increasing. As Mongolian students come to Taiwan, probably they would encounter adjustment issues. However, do they face the similar kinds of adjustment issues in Taiwan as those in Western world? How do they solve these problems? These mentioned issues offer the main motivation of this study. The data are collected from 4 Mongolian international students who are studying at National Chung Hsing University. In this study a semi-structured interview, participant observation, and document analysis techniques are applied so as to collect data and meet the requirement of triangulation. The research findings are as follows. These problems include difficulties with language, academics, and social interaction, and culture variation. The Mongolian students usually ask help for professors, departmental secretaries, close friends, and staff of Office of International Affairs. Finally, based on the findings, some suggestions for universities and future research are provided. |
