Hong Kong factor has occupied an important position in the developmental process of Taiwan literature since the 1950s. This article attempts to put this concept into the context of the development in Taiwan literature. Taking the 1980s for example, it leads us to think about the meaning in this historical period and influence in the field of Taiwan literature for the Hong Kong factor. Taiwan and Hong Kong in the 1980s not only faced the Chinese factor, but also created a turning space to link with each other. This link made the development of Taiwan literature more enriched. At that time, Hong Kong became an important position of intermediary for cross-strait visits and it was represented in Taiwan literature. Taking Hong Kong factors into the field of Taiwan literature is not a process of embodying Hong Kong literature to Taiwan literature or infinitely expanding the boundaries of Taiwan literature history. Instead, it is a reflection of the spread and transformation in trend of thought in literature and art, and the exchange of knowledge and experience in literary field, as well as the representation of Hong Kong in Taiwan literature in each historical period.
