Wheelchair basketball players and regular players are similar in that they both need to engage in high-intensity competition and perform multiple skills in intervals. However, the former have weaker core muscles due to polio or spinal cord injuries, making it more difficult for them to engage in high-intensity games. In order to advance various skills associated with basketball, it is imperative to strengthen core muscles. Core training includes using medicine ball, bouncing ball and elastic band to cooperate with partner in half twist, thera-band crunch and thera-band hyperextension. Consequently, core training will be directly conducive to athletic performance. With the aim to promoting wheelchair basketball, this paper will introduce the origin and rules of the sport and propose several core training exercises on the wheelchair. This will not only raise public awareness but also benefit and support the development of wheelchair basketball. |
