Balance is not only the core of the development of motor skills in human, but also an indispensable element in life or athletic performance. People with hearing impairment have worse balance performance than ordinary people. However, little research has been done on the effects of exercise intervention on the hearing-impaired children and adolescents in Taiwan. Therefore, this article provides literature review on the influence of balance performance and exercise intervention on the hearing-impaired people in recent years. The results show that different types of exercise can improve the balance performance for children with hearing impairment. Relevant researches are needed to improve balance ability in individuals in different age groups and different severity of hearing disability. The article offers some information and suggestions for schools, coaches, and special education authorities to arrange exercise programs for individuals with hearing impairment. |
