With the trend of business globalization, expatriation has become a significant part of globalized management. This research aims to investigate the relationship of social support and job performance in six factories of Ling Yih Footwear Group, which manufactures shoes in Vietnam, Myanmar and China. The mediating effects of organizational commitment in the relationship between two constructs of social support and job performance are also examined. Specifically, it is also proposed that cultural difference moderates the relationships between social support and organizational commitment, social support and job performance, as well as organizational commitment, job performance and cultural difference. The survey method is adopted in this study. A total of 297 questionnaires are distributed and 273 copies returned. Among the returned questionnaires, 258 copies are valid, with the effective return rate of 86.87%. The data are analyzed mainly with correlation and regression analysis to discuss the relationships among social support, organizational commitment, job performance and cultural difference. The results indicate that social support has positive effects in job performance and organizational commitment has positive effects on job performance; besides, organizational commitment appears partial mediating effects on the relationship between social support and job performance. Furthermore, culture difference has slightly significant moderating effect on the relationship between social support and job performance. Some suggestions for the findings are provided. |
