The purpose of this study is to address the impact of leisure involvement on individual spirituality. Three constructs, including attraction, self-expression, and centrality to lifestyle, are adopted to measure leisure involvement, whereas four constructs, including physical condition, happiness, achievement, and fulfillment of life, are used to evaluate individual spirituality. Data collection is via paper-based questionnaires, whereas data analysis is via SPSS statistical tool, including item analysis, descriptive statistics, comparative analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression. The present study indicates a low positive correlation between leisure involvement and spirituality. This finding is consistent with Harlos' (2000) study that humility, mercy, and simple principle have the impact on spirituality, while leisure involvement contradicts simple principle. Therefore, leisure is not one of the best ways to enhance spirituality. Moreover, the present study reveals that there is no correlation between leisure involvement and physical condition. The finding provides a direction for modifying the fact that leisure can lead to a decrease in pressures and an increase in health. However, keeping good physical condition and happiness can not only enhance individual achievement and fulfillment of life, but also increase individual spirituality. |
