Grinding is an efficient method for precise processing. However, unbalance in a grinding wheel makes vibrations and causes great disturbance that decreases the surface quality and the precision. The traditional balance method is the adjustable-pitch balance. Such a balance method is off-line and time-consuming. In this paper, a system of non-contact dynamic unbalance detection and on-line automatic adjustment is proposed for improving the above time-consuming and inefficient method. The system consists of a weighting plate, variation detection modules, a PC-Based controller and spray devices. It can directly detect the quantity and position of unbalance using variation detection modules without taking grinding wheels out of service and can adjust the unbalance using on-line spray devices. The system is tested. The performances show that the unbalance reduction rate can be up to 77 % and the balance level comes to between ISO G1 and G2. |
