This article, taking collections regarding Patriot Lottery Tickets by the National Science and Technology Museum (NSTM) for example, illustrates the approaches of collection and object study for science and technology museums. The NSTM takes an associative collection approach to acquiring collections and a technological principle approach to object study in this example. A brief of history, impacts, and literature review of the Patriot Lottery Tickets are first described. The authors then state that the process of making the Patriot Lottery Tickets, which combines with the collections of the Patriot Lottery Tickets as well as the printing technology. The authors conclude that the science and technology museums can generate knowledge about collections through associative collections and plural approaches of object studies. The aforementioned knowledge can be delivered through a variety of activities in the museums to inspire the general public with the purpose of science and technology museum. |
