Assemblage thinking is primarily about the process and formation of a whole, and have become more and more popular in recent years. This paper have explored relevant theory of assemblage firstly, in turn analyzing its three different dimension of ‘component’, ‘process’ and ‘result’, by clarifying relevant thinking and dialect it have involved. While the former focus on individual level and the latter see it as a whole, the concept of ‘encounter’ have been used for the complement to the assemblage thinking, then was associated with the idea of ‘affect’ for the further discussion. The paper have initiated the terms of ‘assemblages-encounters’ to combine the two different concepts, and have a dialogue with the thought of mean, to investigate the detail about being in the becoming of assemblages and encounters. By means of analyzing the meanings of ‘zhong’ and ‘the Doctrine of Mean’, the paper contend that searching for equilibrium between the two extremes, the thought of mean can be used properly for guiding the idea of ‘assemblages-encounters’ and its relevant thinking and dialect, and have the potential for leading the practice of individual and collective from now on. |
