The museum is an enterprise for social culture. Its interrelationship with community can be built not only by cultural activities but by library information services. The museum is an information system rather than a conglomeration of spaces-exhibits, classrooms, storage areas and offices-or a gathering of functions and departments, with communication going on within the parts. The museum library and its information services are integral links in this communication and information system we call the museum. The library in the museum should be an integral element in the message the museum offers to visitors. When it is well conveyed and received, the message becomes information about some particular community. The museum library enriches this information process for the community. |
