Probe into attempt and purport of “The Great Learning”

本文主要指出《大學》作者是為哪些讀者群而寫，進而掌握作者《大學》撰寫此書的意圖。《大學》所設定的對象是一批政治的儲備人才，這些學子就是未來的天子、諸侯、公卿大夫。作者的意圖是，幫助學子建立為學的次第，而這些學子被預設為國家未來的領導人才，透過修身、齊家、治國平天下的教導，使學子們能夠成為安邦定國的棟樑，建立國泰民安的大同社會。

The aim of this thesis is to pinpoint the readership of “Great Learning” so as to grasp the author's aim of writing this book. The targeted readers of “Great Learning” are a group of talents reserved for future leadeship. These talents may be future emperors, district governors or imperial court officials. The author wished to help these reserved talents to setup an order of study which will prepare them to become future leaders of the nation. These diciples went through a step by step training, starting from personalcharacter molding, then family building and finally learning how to rule the nation and pacify the world. The goal of this of training is to equip them to become pillars of the nation and through them realizing the ultimate goal of a peaceful and harmonized world.
