NCL Joins Dalian Symposium on Colonialism in Taiwan The Symposium on the History of the Colonialism in Taiwan was held in Dalian, China on August 20 to August 23. The symposium was sponsored by the Institute of Taiwan Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in association with the international relations institute of the Dalian University of Foreign Languages and the research department of the All China Taiwanese Association. The symposium was held to further promote and coordinate the establishment of the field of Taiwanese historical studies in Taiwan, China and other countries through research and academic exchanges. The symposium also analyzed trends on the historical studies of colonialism in Taiwan from historical perspectives and in context of the historical development of Taiwan.
