July 6: Dr. Mi Chu, director of the Asian Division of the US Library of Congress visits the NCL. Dr. Mi Chu also participated with library staff in a seminar on the world digital library, chaired by NCL Director-general Karl Min Ku. July 23:Dr. Melvin P. Thatcher and Mr. Alan Heath of the Genealogical Society of Utah (GSU), and GSU's Asian representative Mr. Chien Chengmin meet with NCL Director-general Karl Min Ku for talks on cooperation affairs. August 4: Sung Sam-Jae of the Korean Ministry of Education, Science and Technology visits the NCL. August 5: The 30-person 'Korean University Chinese Language Instruction Study Group' of the Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at National Taiwan Normal University visits the NCL.
