A series of three seminars on distance learning kicked off in northern Taiwan on May 27 as part of the 2002 Community Education Organizations’ “Lifelong Learning Festival.” Sponsored by the Ministry of Education in conjunction with the NCL, the seminars sought to promote the use of online educational resources and bridge the urban-rural gap in study opportunities. After its debut at the Taipei Municipal Library main branch, the seminar continued on to the Kaohsiung Municipal Library on June 11 and National Taichung Teachers College on June 21.
Seminar topics covered an introduction to distance learning resources, including the READncl service at the NCL, nature and life skills in Taiwan, information studies in the e-generation, library and information organizations, e-libraries, reference services and resources, library automation, production of AV materials and collection management, and Taiwanese society, folk stories, art and culture. |
