Taitung Hosts Book Club Fair

The fifth National Book Fair opened at the library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (CAB) of Taitung County on October 10. The annual event kicked off with a children’s book display followed by an exhibition joined by 43 reading clubs at the CAB main plaza on October 13. Prof. Lin Wen-pao (林文寶) of the sponsoring National Taitung Teachers College noted that the main purpose of the fair was to provide discounts up to 25% on titles difficult to purchase in the Taitung area. CAB director Yan Chih-kuang (顏志光) said that the participating reading clubs, including clubs for seniors, parent-children clubs, and 19 local clubs, had joined the event at their own expense. He also noted that some of the participants represented other groups from among the 1,909 reading clubs in Taiwan.
