Librarians and e-learning specialists converged at the NCL on September 19 for a seminar on utilizing library and Internet resources to advance educational opportunities. The seminar was sponsored by the NCL in conjunction with the Special Library Committee of the Library Association of China and the Taipei chapter of the American Society for Information Science and Technology.
Opening with a speech by NCL director Juang Fang-rung (莊芳榮), the seminar proceeded to cover three keynote topics. The first session on e-learning was presided by Prof. Li Kun-han (李昆翰) of the Taipei Municipal Teachers College, and discussions on the utilization of digital reading materials in open distance learning and instruction were headed by Prof. Yueh Hsiu-ping (岳修平) of National Taiwan University. The afternoon session, chaired by Ms. Chen Chao-chen (陳昭珍), head of the NCL Reader Services Department, addressed ways to establish and promote distance learning services at the NCL. |
