Biographical Record of Historical Figures in Taiwan

In view of the growing academic interest in Taiwanese history, the NCL published a collection of brief biographies on historical figures in Taiwan. The original intention of the library was to produce a more comprehensive index of biographical resources, however due to limited human resources and the reliance on local gazettes for most source information, the editors decided to call the publication a collection of biographical sketches rather than an index. Special Collections Department director Lu Chin-tang (盧錦堂), was in charge of planning the project. The editorial board was joined by several leading scholars, including Academia Sinica fellows Tsao Yung-ho (曹永和) and Liu Tsui-jung (劉翠溶), National Museum of History director Chang Yan-hsien (張炎憲), Fujen Catholic University professor Yin Chang-yi (尹章義), National Chunghsing University professor Huang Hsiu-cheng (黃秀政), Academia Sinica Institute of Modern History researcher Hsu Hsueh-ji (許雪姬), and Shih Hsin University Li Hsiao-feng (李筱峰).
