The role of hormone, especially progestin, in the pathophysiology of endometriosis is uncertain. The use of progesterone in the management of endometriosis is disappointing. A recent study showed that anti-progestin might provide a more effective therapeutic effect in the management of endometriosis, since endometriosis is often progestin-resistant. This review provides a better understanding of mechanism of progestins on endometriosis, which might increase the effects of hormones on endometriosis.
