The role of progesterone on endometrial cancer

雖然雌激素在一些婦女生殖器官的疾病上扮演很重要的角色，這些包括了子宮內膜癌、子宮內膜異位、子宮肌瘤和乳癌等等。另一方面，也有越來越多的證據顯示，黃體素在這些疾病方面可能扮演著和雌激素截然不同的相反角色，但也可能是協同致病的加成反應。例如：暴露在雌激素下而沒有足夠黃體素，會顯著的增加罹患子宮內膜癌的風險。但在正常的乳房組織，黃體素卻被視為是為是細胞增生與致癌的因子之一，其風險甚至不低於雌激素的刺激。推論造成黃體素在不同組織有不同表現的關鍵在於各組織細胞分化的不同，這不但涉及黃體素受體本身也涉及與其他鄰近組織的旁分泌交互作用。而黃體素透過在基質細胞和上皮細胞之間的旁分泌交互作用的結果，會導致組織或細胞有截然不同的作用結果。舉例來說，正常子宮內膜是由黏膜內大量富含黃體素受體的基質細胞所組成，基質細胞會影響上皮細胞增生、分化，進而抵抗細胞癌化。本篇文章主要介紹有關於黃體素在子宮內膜癌的一些基本知識以及進展。

The use of hormone, especially progestin, in the management of an early-stage endometrial cancer is acceptable in the young women, although it is not a standard therapy. This review attempts to improve the understanding of mechanism of hormones on endometrial cancers, which might increase the effects of hormones on endometrial cancers.
