The relationship between hormones and uterine fibroids is well known, since uterine is the most common benign disease during reproductive age. Although estrogen may be a critical role in the pathogenesis of uterine fibroids, however, recent evidence also favors the potential role of progestins in the pathogenesis of uterine fibroids. A better understanding of mechanism of hormones on uterine fibroids might increase the therapeutic effects of the use of hormones in the management of uterine fibroids.
