試論唐代廣州在中西交通史上的地位

The Position of Guangzhou in the Sino-West Transportation History in the Tang Dynasty

唐五代時期是廣州地區經濟發展的重要時期，此時期廣州不但以其優越的地理位置，取代了交州在海上絲路的終點地位，而成為當時第一大外貿港口，並且在農業、手工業及商業等方面均十分發達，人口也相對地快速增加，並成為唐廷極為關注之地。而以廣州地區為研究對象的主要原因，在於廣州地區不僅是唐代中西交通的重要孔道，在經濟上亦有傲人的發展。在其後宋元乃至清末時期，亦持續保持在中西交通上的關鍵地位，並發揮在經濟上的影響力。故本文乃從廣州的經濟基礎及交通條件等各方面加以探究，以期明瞭唐代廣州在中西交通方面的地位及其影響。

Tang's Fives Dynasties period was the important period of economic development in Guangzhou area. At this time, Guangzhou with its superior geographic position not only replaced Jiaozhou as the terminal point position of the water Silk Road and became the biggest foreign trade port but also very flourishing in the aspects, such as agriculture, handicraft industry and business...etc. The population of Guangzhou also increased rapidly and became the region that Tang's imperial government extremely pays attention to. The main reason to choose Guangzhou region as the research object lies in Guangzhou not only was the important sino-west transportation pivot in the Tang Dynasty but also had a proud development on the economy. Later in Song, Yuan and even late Ching Dynasty, it also continued as the key position of sino-west transportation, and developed its influence on the economy. This paper investigates from Guangzhou’s economic foundations and transportation conditions etc. in order to understand Guangzhou’s position and its influence of sino-west transportation in Tang Dynasty.
