Purpose: This study was to understand the sports club and exercise participation behavior of college students in Lan Yang Institute of Technology. Methods: The participants included 597 college students (343 male students with mean age 20.6±0.9 years and 254 female students with mean age 20.4±0.8 years). The exercise participation behavior questionnaire was used as a tool. All data were processed by SPSS for windows 18.0 system. The investigated values were presented by descriptive statistics method chi-square test and Pearson's correlation coefficient, were considered to be significant if the p value was <.05. Results: (1) The proportion of students to participate in sports club ratio was 43.2%, boys participate in sports club was significantly higher than girls. (2) The frequency of exercise activity is one day per week, with mean average 1-2.5 hours. (3) The sport types that students favored were ball game and aerobic exercise. (4) Major sports participation approach to physical education 68.3%. (5) Most students hope they could learn the skills and the weight loss in the future. Conclusions: Physical education curriculum for the major sports to participate in the Lan-Yang Institute of Technology students, given to the 333 sports concept, the creation of related courses, providing students the opportunity to study in order to achieve the goal of health promotion. |
