In order to survey the heavy metal residues in marketed fruits and vegetables, 109 samples were collected from 8 counties and cities within central Taiwan, and the heavy metal residues examined. Quantitation of heavy metal content (Pb、Cd) was performed by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Preparation of standard curves was conducted by AAS using serial standard solutions (Pb、Cd). The absorbances of standards correlated well with the linear correlation coefficients of more than 0.999 (α=0.05). The limits of detection of lead and cadmium by flame AAS were determined to be 0.15 and 0.01 ppm, respectively. The results showed that the lead and cadmium residues of the 109 samples were all below their limits of detection. |
