"Military social work" (MSW) in the U.S. Army has been implemented over seventy years. However, the practice of MSW in Taiwan is hardly for discussion. The main purpose of this article is to explore the experience on ethical dilemma of military social workers and to better understand the military factors that may contribute to those ethical issues. This article adopts qualitative research method and in-depth interview was conducted to collect data from 5 military social workers. The results showed the ethical dilemmas of military social workers included the followings: (1)to also be the"hatchet man"hired by military; (2)to make decision depended on rank instead of profession; (3)to be loyal to mission instead of client; (4)to identify the"real"client. Finally, the reflections and suggestions toward practice were discussed in this paper. |
