Yongxi Yuefu with totally twenty volumes edited by Kuo Xun in Ming Dynasty is an important Xiqu anthology in the history of Xiqu (Chinese opera). Sanqu, Xiqu, Zhu gong diao and many folk ditties in Yue and Ming Dynasty are collected in Yongxi Yuefu. The edition of Yongxi Yuefu in Xinmao Year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (the 10th of Jiajing, 1531) is edited thirty five years earlier than the edition in Bingyin Year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (the 45th of Jiajing, 1566). However, the Binying edition is much well known than the earlier edition, Xinmao edition. The Binying edition is well known for being included in ”Si Bu Chong Kang”; the Xinmao edition is stored in the National Central Library in Taipei without being published. This is why most scholars know the Bingyin edition instead of the Xinmao edition. For this reason, this study starts from the author's investigation of Xinmao edition for the Yongxi Yuefu in the National Central Library then highlights the importance and value of each edition by comparing the various editions of Yongxi Yuefu |
