The patient, Mr. Wu, was an 85-year-old man and had herpes zoster for the first time one year ago. The symptoms seemed a little lessened after having treatment of west medicine, but he still felt taut on the affection and had pain when pressing it. The dull and lingering pain made him feel quite uncomfortable. After the 13-month treatment of west medicine, since the treatment outcome was not good and caused him feel anxious, Mr. Wu sought the traditional Chinese medical treatment instead. We adopted acupuncture in combination with medicine for promoting blood circulation by removing blood stasisy and clearing heat and removing dampness. With superficial puncture therapy and retaining needle therapy, the patient had an excellent outcome. After several acupuncture treatments, he felt he has almost recovered. |
