Since the 1990s, this post-modern educational trend was extended to the field of art education. Among the most important goals of the post-modern art education include the approaches to promote students' ability of responding to messages from the world, to enhance students' multi-cultural insights, to build positive dynamics with other people in their social environment, to devote their attention to contemporary social issues, to participate in civic engagement actively, and finally, to cultivate the abilities of exploring diversified issues from contemporary society, which could be solved creatively. The Project of the Cultivation of Modern Citizens' Core Competence, under the Ministry of Education, has been executed in the courses of General Education by universities and colleges with great effort of over the past years. In view of the strategic nature this Project possesses, it comprises three essential attributes-autonomy, diversification, and publicity, which reflect coincidentally the thoughts of post-modernism as well as the properties of the curriculum integration. The purpose of this article is to explore the teaching strategies from the viewpoint of Post-Modernism for the Project of the Cultivation of Modern Citizens' Core Competence, illustrated by the Course of Appreciation of Western Classical Music. For this purpose, there are three perspectives under discussion: 1. To explore the aesthetic connotations of Post-Modern Art Education. 2. To explore the possibilities of laying the basis for the Project of the Cultivation of Modern Citizens' Core Competence from the Perspectives of Post-Modern Art Education. 3. To explore the implementation of the Course of Appreciation of Western Classical Music with integrated Curriculum Design and interdisciplinary learning. |
