Purpose: Through effective knowledge management (KM), an organization is able to reach better competitive advantage. Due to the intense dependency of knowledge, the system of KM in healthcare organizations is crucial to its medical quality and performance. The purpose of this study is to explore how the policy of KM affects the operation of healthcare organization in individual knowledge, organizational knowledge, product efficacy, and financial benefit. Method: After solid literature review, we develop our interview guidance and then interview physicians and KM managers in hospitals. We discuss their viewpoints toward KM policy and the relationship between KM and performance in the healthcare organization. Result: The result shows that the policy of KM, as a dynamic factor, affects not only the financial performance but also organization knowledge, human resource, and physicians’ personal knowledge and performance of medical practices in healthcare organization. |
