Muscle fatigue is a common issue need to be clarified during exercise. It has a significant influence on exercise performances. The underlying mechanisms responsible for the influence may include muscular contractile speed reduction, common drive theory and reduction of sensory feedback function. Furthermore, muscle fatigue can be attributed to both central and peripheral factors as well. The transmission failure which occurs along the pathway from motor cortex through to spinal cord has been called central fatigue. Peripheral fatigue primarily occurs on the sites below spinal cord. Clarification of the underlying mechanisms of muscle fatigue helps us to find a solution to the fatigue problem during exercise. |
