’Interdisciplinary Teaching’ is an innovative model for both teaching and learning. As it can make up for the deficiencies of teaching, many faculty members in higher educational institutions have their teaching feature in this model for higher grants. The two researchers have taught Gender Education and History of Women at Ta Hwa University of Science and Technology and Jen-Teh Junior College of Medicine, Nursing and Management for years. Because their courses were sponsored by the Humanities and Social Sciences office, Ministry of Education in the fall semester of the year of 2009, they had students attended the two courses as subjects. Purpose of this study was to apply Interdisciplinary Teaching methods to teach issues related to ’Gender.’ At the end of the semester, the results indicated that these two courses were highly accepted by the participants in the Survey of Course Acceptance. Besides, most students were progressed in the Survey of Gender Knowledge from the protest to the posttest. It shows that the Interdisciplinary Teaching is worthy of being continued and strengthened in the future teaching and research. Finally, the researchers do recommendations, discussions and reflections to the Interdisciplinary Teaching team, learning methods, Gender Education courses and educational institutes according to results of this study. |
