The purpose of this study was to examine the implementation and reflect of character education in Chung Yuan Christian University. For the purpose of this study, the literature review and content analysis were used. Furthermore, a descriptive statistics analysis was also used to explore the findings. The results indicated that the idea and practice of character education was congruent with the criterion of ”Ten Creative Strategies and Actions of Character Education” proposed by the Ministry of Taiwan Education. Besides, on the basis of Holistic Education, the idea of character education was built up and also connected to the traditional spirit of Christian faith. On the basis of qualitative analysis, the content of character was mostly related to 7 educational perspectives and 21i. On the practice of character education, a variety of promotion projects were took such as: formal curriculum of General Education, hidden curriculum, service learning, character curriculum, paradigm articles reading, infused teaching, traditional activities, etc. Finally, the use of ”Holistic Character Web” was useful for the supplemental function of character education. Suggestions and recommendations for the future practice and research were also discussed. |
