The purpose of the study was to design the Multiple Intelligences Developmental Assessment Scale for Young Children with high reliability and validity. The MIDAS for young children was designed for parents and teachers to assess the multiple intelligences development of young children. The researcher designed the scale based on the Multiple Intelligences Theory. The scale consists of eight subscales: linguistic intelligence, logical-mathematical intelligence, visual-spatial intelligence, bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, naturalist intelligence, musical intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence. The scale was administered to 126 young children aged two to five from the kindergarten and preschool. The study findings are: first, the psychometrical quality of the scale is ideal; second, the hypothesis model of multiple intelligences multidimensional psychological construct for young children fit empirical data pretty well; third, there is high correlation for parents and teachers’ assessment findings. Based on the findings, suggestions for utilization of MIDAS for young children, and further researches were included in this study. |
