One of the main tasks for nursing attendants is assisting the elderly to transfer. The methods of completing these tasks have been evolved from manual handing, emphasizing body mechanics and techniques, to mechanic assistances which include non- mechanic-powered and mechanic-powered ones. No-Lift Policy, emphasizing the use of non-manual handing, is to reduce the occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and to ensure the safety of nursing attendants while transferring patients. Australia, Great Britain, United States have all adapted this policy in recent years. However, Taiwan has not done so up to date. The purpose of this study is to share the procedure of developing and promoting of no-lift policy from different aspects, and to share the experiences of success and hardships encountered as well. |
