The purpose of this study is to explore how to immerse children in the typing behavior joyfully. The game-based typing environment was designed based on flow theory, entitled My-Pet-Typing, which contained level-and star-mechanism in order to facilitate the typing skills of children and assist students to adjust the difficult level of typing. The experiment conducted with 2nd grade elementary students (n = 205) during one year. The findings indicated that students not only can increase typing speed gradually, but also could sustain the long-term typing behaviors. This study also discussed how to sustain students’ typing skills based on flow theory and further found that the difficulty of constructing the standard of typing speed. The suggestion for future study was to explore the relationship between students’ the typing activity and the Chinese language learning. |
