The purpose of this study was to assess the need for multicultural training and evaluate its helpfulness for those teachers and counselors who participated in the multicultural competence training program. The participants were 37 elementary school teachers (12 males and 25 females)and 31 counselors(5 males and 26 females) from Taipei. They participated in a 2-day multicultural competence training program. The researchers eveloped the Instruments of “Multicultural Training Needs Assessment Scale(MTNAS)” and “The Helpfulness of Multicultural Training Scale(HMTS)” .The participants were administered the MTNAS before they received the training program, and they were administered the HMTS after the training program. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and t-test.The major findings were:(1)The counselors’ scores on MTNAS were higher than teachers’, especially on” general needs of multicultural training”; (2)The scores on HNTS were founded no significant difference between teachers and counselors. At the end of this paper, results were discussed, suggestions of the study, and recommendations for about future research and practice were discussed. |
