The purposes of this study are to understand the relationship between school adaptation and well-being of new immigrant children in elementary schools, to investigate their current situations, to analyze the differences among the background variables, school adaptation and well-being of elementary new immigrant children, to study the results of forecast on school adaptation towards well-being of elementary new immigrant children. This study has been implemented on the fourth and sixth grade of new immigrant children of public elementary schools in Taichung city. The instrument was "Questionnaire on the Relationship between School Adaptation and Well-being of New Immigrant Children in Elementary Schools, and 612 valid samples were collected under formal testing. Data analysis was conducted by the utilization of descriptive statistics, independent-samples t test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The findings of the study are as followed: 1. The elementary new immigrant children's school adaptation is above the average, and disciplinary adaptation is ranked as the highest. 2. The elementary new immigrant children's sense of well-being is above the average, and life satisfaction is ranked as the highest. 3. The elementary new immigrant children's school adaptation differs significantly in terms of different school zones, grades, genders and family types. 4. With different grades and family types, the elementary new immigrant children's sense well-being has obvious differences. 5. There is a positive correlation between school adaptation and well being of the elementary new immigrant children. 6. The elementary new immigrant children's school adaptation can effectively forecast their sense of well-being. |
