This study examines how Hakka borrowed words from Japanese to the modern Hakka dialect. Section 1~2 begins with a brief overview of the purpose and the data of investigation. Section 3 compares the syllable structure of the two languages, and explains briefly the influence of the borrowing. Sect ion 4~7 summarizes the phonetic changes of loanwords through the syllable structure, initial, final and tone. Section 8 outlines direct ions for future research. |
