This study is to look into the developing passage of special curricular features in oceanic education of an urban primary school, and explore the problems encountered by the specially developed curricular features in oceanic education of the said primary school and coping strategy with the situations. By means of interviews, observations, documentary analysis and data gathered placed under review and discussions according to the purpose of study and based upon the problems seen, the researcher finds out the follows: 1. Curricula of special features in oceanic education practiced by the school under case study are mainly carried out by a teacher of natural science teaching the students to know the ocean with the shells of his own collections to inspire the students' interest. Subsequently, under the new principal's support, the “Oceanic Education” will become the developing feature of the school with further formation of a “5-Star Specialty Group” as the model of cross-field learning. 2. Curricular design of special features in oceanic education adopts chiefly spiral and theme activity schedule and a 3-stage teaching will be performed by teachers through the employment of multiple strategies to learn from coordinated, field experiencing and mutual cooperative learning. |
