Adaptation is a concept frequently applied in clinical situations. However, it has been variously conceptualized and operationalized. The purpose of this paper was to apply the methodology outlined by Walker and Avant (1995) to analyze the concept of adaptation. The aims of this concept analysis are to determine the defining attributes, to construct model, related, borderline, and contrary cases, and to identify antecedents and consequences. Empirical referents are also outlined. We anticipated that this analysis can be useful not only in nursing practice but also in developing research projects. |
