This case study reported the nursing experience for a left hand crushing injury patient receiving microsurgical reconstruction. Four major nursing problems were identified by using Majority Gorden’s functional health assessment guide through interview and observation during nursing care period. They were impaired tissue integrity, deficit of self-care ability, disturbance of sleep pattern, and anxiety. Nursing intervention programs including wound care, self-care training, focused nursing care, and establishment of better relationship with patient, were provided to improve wound healing and to assist acceptance of amputation event. This experience provided nursing staff with a guide to care similar patients in the future. |
