Ditmanson Medical Foundation Chia-Yi Christian Hospital (CYCH) has developed as a smart hospital in response to the challenges of a super-aged society, healthcare workforce shortages, and disparities in urban–rural healthcare resources. To provide a continuum of care, CYCH integrates outpatient, inpatient, surgical, pharmaceutical, administrative, teaching and research, and community and long-term care services. By adopting technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, big data analytics, and cloud platforms, the hospital has established a patient-centered smart healthcare ecosystem. Through smart solutions and intelligent service workfows, CYCH has enhanced healthcare quality, patient safety, and operational efciency and advanced environmental, social, and governance sustainability goals. In 2025, CYCH received the National Healthcare Quality Award smart hospital certifcation, becoming the frst hospital in the Yunlin–Chiayi region to achieve this distinction. This accomplishment demonstrates that nonmetropolitan hospitals can leverage smart healthcare principles and technologies to overcome regional limitations and deliver high-quality, compassionate healthcare services.
