The World Health Organization has identified antimicrobial resistance as one of the major global public health threats. The overuse and misuse of antibiotics are among the primary causes of this threat. This article highlights the essential role of primary care physicians in advancing antimicrobial stewardship through public education. Clinical observations demonstrate that many patients erroneously regard antibiotics as panaceas and frequently misuse them to treat viral illnesses such as the common cold. To counter such misconceptions, the author has organized public health seminars to clarify the appropriate application of antibiotics and advocate for increased antibiotic education. The author’s clinic social media page and multimedia content have also been employed to enhance public awareness and promote responsible antibiotic use. The present study advocates for coordinated efforts across the education, health care, and policy sectors to effectively control the spread of resistant bacteria and preserve public health for future generations.
