Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has become a global public health crisis, posing severe challenges to human and animal health, food safety, and the environmental domains. To address the threat of AMR and strengthen interdepartmental collaboration among the health, food, and agricultural sectors, the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control and Taiwan Food and Drug Administration under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, have jointly launched the "National One Health Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance, 2025–2029" . Based on the One Health framework, the action plan outlines 5 key strategies: (1) establishing and strengthening a national coordination mechanism for AMR management, (2) ensuring sources and supply chain management of antimicrobials in both human and animal use, (3) increasing awareness among the public and healthcare professionals, (4) enhancing infection prevention and control in healthcare settings, and (5) implementing integrated surveillance and risk assessment mechanisms for AMR. These strategies aim to strengthen AMR prevention and control in Taiwan and to reduce the occurrence and spread of AMR. Moving forward, interdepartmental collaboration mechanisms will be further reinforced. In addition, evaluations of national core capacities for AMR management will be conducted to identified gaps and inform cross-sectoral improvements.
