Digital sexual violence is a type of online criminal sexual behavior and represents an emerging category of online sexual crime in recent years. Most perpetrators of digital sexual violence share personality traits and behavioral motivations with individuals who have online sexual addiction. These individuals often rely on various forms of online sexual activity as a means to satisfy their desire and relieve their stress. Because sex is an inherently private and sensitive topic, appropriate research instruments and empirical studies in Taiwan examining the correlations between tendencies toward online sexual addiction and different forms of digital sexual violence are lacking. Additionally, the phenomenon of online sexual addiction is often concealed within acts of digital sexual violence, complicating research into such behaviors. Therefore, this study addressed recent trends in digital sexual violence, discussed the underlying causes of online sexual addiction and the influence of such addiction on digital sexual violence, and recommended therapeutic interventions to treat those with tendencies toward digital sexual violence or online sexual addiction.
