Purpose: In this study, a two-way transmission infusion management system was used to assist nursing staff in independently reviewing the execution of chemotherapy administration. This study compared the number of cases of erroneous chemotherapy administration and nursing staff satisfaction with the two-way transmission infusion management system before and after the intervention.
Methods: A questionnaire survey on the administration of adjuvant chemotherapy and satisfaction with the two-way transmission infusion management system was conducted. The data obtained before and after the intervention were analyzed.
Results: The implementation of the system led to the most significant reduction in nursing hours spent checking computer medical orders. The overall average score for nursing staff satisfaction was 2.99, and the “reminder mechanism for the remaining medicine” score was as high as 3.23. From May 2020 to December 2021, no incidents of errors in chemotherapy infusion administration occurred.
Conclusion: Using the two-way transmission infusion management system effectively enhanced drug delivery safety and improved staff satisfaction with the management system. The management system significantly reduced the workload of nursing personnel and improved the safety of chemotherapy infusions.
