This article discusses the establishment of a gender-friendly healthcare environment through the gender empowerment of healthcare professionals. Efforts to build a gender-friendly healthcare system should not focus solely on women. Instead, they should move beyond the misconception of overly associating women with reproductive roles. Notably, the experiences and circumstances of all gender minorities should be considered. Furthermore, gender-friendly practices should be gradually integrated across various medical specialties. Through an analysisof interview data, this article indicates that implementing gender empowerment for healthcare professionals can enhance their gender knowledge and, when combined with appropriate attitudes and skills, facilitate the integrationof gender literacy into clinical competence. When the needs of diverse genders are accounted for, all patients can access care with greater dignity in healthcare institutions, and the spirit of respect for diversity can be realized in healthcare.
