This study examines the impact of CEO narcissism on firms’ internationalization decisions by using empire-building theory. This study collected data from 519 CEOs in Taiwan to analyze. The study found that CEO narcissism has a positive effect on the depth and breadth of internationalization. In addition, the influence of CEO power was investigated further. The results show that when CEOs have power, it has a moderating effect on the relationship between narcissism and the internationalization process. In this paper, we suggest that a narcissistic CEO can contribute to the firm’s internationalization, and that it is important to set up an effective management style to obtain the synergistic effect of a narcissistic CEO. |
